Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar A. Namadi, has been confirmed as the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 general election.
The Governor was declared the sole candidate during the party primary election held at Dutse Stadium in the state capital.
The chairman of the APC gubernatorial primary election committee sent to Jigawa from the party’s national headquarters in Abuja, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Isa Achida, declared Namadi as the winner of the election.
“We conducted this exercise in the presence of INEC officials, security agencies, party officials, and delegates from across 287 political wards and 27 local government areas of Jigawa State,” he said.
“Article 8 and 7 of the National Electoral Law, and Article 10(k) of the APC constitution, allow the candidate to emerge either by consensus or direct election. Governor Namadi is presented as the sole candidate for the APC gubernatorial ticket, and in view of that, Governor Namadi is hereby affirmed.”
“As this gathering has unanimously affirmed Governor Namadi as the APC gubernatorial candidate, and going by this, I am here to declare him duly elected and approved to seek a second term bid under the platform of the All Progressives Congress,” Alhaji Sadiq stated.
In his acceptance speech after receiving the certificate to retain the APC ticket, Governor Namadi thanked APC stakeholders, delegates, and all members of the party for the confidence they have placed in him.
He reiterated his commitment to continue implementing his 12-point agenda for transforming Jigawa State to greater heights.
“In our remaining one year of this first term, we will continue to pursue the completion of all the projects and programs we started for the social and economic development of the state.”
“As I am elected to seek a second term under our great party, the APC, we will continue to do everything possible for the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection and the victory of the APC in all elective positions in the upcoming 2027 general election,” Governor Namadi stated.
