The Jigawa State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has organized a five-day training on Information Technology (IT), modern teaching methods, and classroom management. for 250 Arabic Language and Islamic Studies teachers from primary and junior secondary schools in the state .
Speaking to journalists at the opening session held at Takur site Special Primary School in Dutse, the Chairman of Jigawa SUBEB, Professor Haruna Musa, explained that the training aimed to enhance the teachers’ skills in line with the state’s ongoing educational reforms.
He emphasized that teacher training and retraining are key priorities of Governor Malam Umar Namadi’s administration to bridge gaps and ensure quality learning outcomes.
“The state has been conducting similar trainings, but this is the first one specifically targeting Arabic and Islamic studies teachers to improve their skills,”
“The program will equip them with the knowledge to utilize information technology and digital tools in teaching, aligning with current educational standards.”
“The chairman added that, as part of the reforms, the government is taking all necessary measures to make teachers more effective in the classroom, ensure schools function as proper learning environments” he said
Prof. Haruna further noted that beyond recruiting new teachers, renovating and constructing classrooms, provision of furniture, books, and other learning materials, the Board is also promoting community involvement in school management to enhance learning outcomes.
He revealed that the training was conducted in collaboration with the College of Education, Gumel, and the College of Legal Studies, Ringim.
One of the participants, Malam Ibrahim Kude, commended Governor Umar Namadi and the SUBEB Chairman for the initiative, describing it as “a positive step toward improving teaching and learning in the state.”
