A mother of seven children Saratu Sale of Balagu village , Kiyawa local government in Jigawa state has join campaign for promoting child spacing/Family Planing in it’s community for better reproductive health.
Saratu Sale who delivered her number seven child two months ago spoke to our reporter when she visited Balagu Clinic for accessing family planning services said, she was at the facility to access fourth round of child spacing services in her life.
She explained that, she begins to adopt child spacing after given birth to her third child, and now she had seven children.
” I have been using family planning method and it help me and my children to grow well and above all I continue to give birth at a right time without having any challenges”
” This baby is my number seventh child , so family planning can”t stop women from given birth in general, but it help her to give birth at a right time in according to the medical advice”
” In my community I serve as an examplary model in using family planning, I advocated it to many of my community members and sizeable number accepted and adopted it as they saw me and my children health and hearty because of the child spacing I used “.
However Saratu stated that, she can’t not said either she will go for another pregnancy or not, maintained that it is an issue of discussion between her and her husband which will be bound upon time and condition.
In her side the Head of Antinetal Care Unit and Family Planing desk officers of Balagu prima healthcare facility Mrs Hauwa Hamisu Musa testified that, Saratu Sale have been accessing the service according to the record and also became an advocate of the service.
“Hauwa brought many child bearing age women for accessing the family planning or child spacing services after she engaged them on its advantage to family reproductive health.
As people like Saratu serves as an examplary model in the community, the public are becoming practically more enlighting on the advantage of family planning to family health and also cleared the misconception about it.
” The acceptability and accessible of the services keep increasing, before we hardly recorded 30-40 women accessing the service in a month but now we use to have 200 to above monthly” Hauwa stated.
She than called on government and partners to strengthen the supply of the family commodities as many of the facilities use to go out of stock due to the growing demands in the state.
