Critical stakeholders including Security Agencies, judiciary /Law practitioners, civil societies, and Media held a strategic meeting in Jigawa state for advocating and promoting gender equality in the implementation of Administration of Criminal Justice law in the state.The two days meeting was sponsored by CLEEN Foundation. with the support from MacArthur Foundation.
held in Dutse capital with representatives from all the critical stakeholders organizations.In his opening address,the Executive Director Clean Foundation Mr Gad Peter said, the meeting which tags as policy dialogue was aimed at bringing all the principal actors in the Administration of Criminal Justice to discussed and strategize on address the gaps identified in the system.”
We all believed that, effective implementation of Administration of Criminal Justice Law will promote and enhance justice, equity, fairness, peace and stability in the country and every one has a role to play in achieving the desire goals”
“Women and individual from marginalized group often face unique challenges and biases within the criminal justice process, Addressing these issue is not only the right things to do but critical to achieve a truly just system “
“Together we can work towards a criminal justice system that is not only effective and fair but also a reflective of our collective commitment to justice and equality for all” Mr peter stated During the meeting issues of bad cultural practices, tradition, political prejudice, low awareness, corruption were among major challenges in the implementation of unbiased and effective Administration of Criminal Justice Law in the society.
All the participants have promised to join hands together in addressing the identified key challenges and promote equality in the state and county justice system.
