Jigawa state government has asked the beneficiaries of Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery And Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES ) results area II intervention to signed utilization bonds against misused of the grant.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after signing the bond and distribution of modern chicken incubator and other grant intervention to the beneficiaries the Jigawa state project coordinator J- CARES Dr. Aliyu Inuwa, said, the new rules was introduced to ensure maximum and proper utilization of the interventions.
He said, it comes to their knowledge that, some people given similar intervention in the past , sold it in a given away price instead of them to utilize it for long-lasting economic benefits.
Dr Inuwa noted that, such bad habits is capable of compromising the aims and objectives of the NG-CARES Programme and prevent it from achieving the desire goals.
” The NG-CARES which domesticated to J-CARES was initiated for economic recovery and enhancing the livelihood of rural communities after the devastating effect of COVID-19 pandemic to the global economy”
” In Jigawa state as we continue to implement the program we are also assessing and evaluating it’s impacts, for addressing any gaps and strengthening the implementation process, in view of that we now introduced ” Utilization Bond”.
The coordinator further revealed that the NG-CARES Results Area 2 has supported over 47,790 individuals in Jigawa State to recover from the devastating economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“we have supported over 47,790 persons including; 3,360 Rice Farmers i Maize 2,210 Maize farmers, 4,330 Millet farmers , 3,650 Sorghum farmers and 1,660 poultry farms”
Others beneficiaries were : 5,700, received 3 Goats each, 1,330, got 3 Sheps each, 710 empowered with grains Processing machines , 4,220 received Water pumps , 100 Fingerlings fish, 1,280 were given, Local chicks 100 received Spaghetti-making machines among others.
