2025: Unicef To Strengthen Jigawa Learning Outcome, Child Immunization

In the upcoming year of 2025 United Nations Children Funds (UNICEF ) has promised to increase its intervention in supporting the improvement of child immunization, learning outcome in basic education and other key areas of intervention in Jigawa state.
The UNICEF Chief of field office Kano Mr Rahma Rihood Mohammed Farah made the commendation while answering questions from newsmen during the annual review of UNICEF activities in the state particularly in the key areas of it’s intervention held in Dutse capital.
Mr Farah who was represented by Senior education manager of UNICEF Kano field office, Mr Michael Banda said,, UNICEF in collaboration with Jigawa state has made significant progress in the area of Hygiene and Sanitaion, Water supply, child nutrition,, tackling high rate of maternal and child death in the state.
He also stated that, in the year under review in collaboration with state government they succeed in enrolling hundreds of out of school children back to formal classrooms.
Unicef commended Jigawa state government for allocating 30 percent of it’s 2024 budget which significantly help in addressing out of school children and improving the state education sector in general.
According to the Unicef the commitment of Jigawa state government in allocating resources, and ensuring judicial use of it is yielding fruitful results and it is very encouraging.
“For the year 2025 UNICEF intervention will also continue to focus on these key areas, with additional emphasis on supporting Jigawa to improve learning outcome particularly at basic education level, enhance child immunization coverage and sustaining the achievement made in tackling open defecation”
“Our review meeting involve key stakeholders from the intervention line ministries and agencies in the state and different desk officers from UNICEF as well as media and other critical stakeholders”.
“We are happy with political will and since commitment demonstrated by the Jigawa state governor Malam Umar Namadi and other Government official in all our engagement throughout the year under review, this is very encouraging and we hope they will sustained the tempo”.
During the meeting issues around the policy and projects where discussed, and different submission were on how to improve and also ensure the programs implementation avoid any complicit with good norms and vulture of the society.
