Ladies and gentlemen of the press,
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Kano State Police Command Headquarters in Bompai Kano. Today, I stand before you to share the achievements of the Police Command in the fight against crime and criminality, as we must appreciate the fact that all forms of crimes are reducing geometrically in the State.

2.  Over the past three (3) weeks, that is from 12th August to 2nd September, 2024, the Police Command has recorded significant successes in various operations, resulting in the arrest of a total of ninety-two (92) suspects including the arrest of; notorious kidnappers in Makarfi LGA Forest in Kaduna State,  armed robbery suspects, motor vehicle thieves, drug dealers, the death of a wanted armed robbery thug named Abba Burakita that has been on the Command’s wanted list for cases of armed robbery and related offences, and recovery of dangerous weapons, intoxicating substances, and stolen items. These achievements demonstrate the hard work, professionalism, and dedication of our officers and men, who have worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all inhabitants in the State.

3.  Since assumption of duty by CP Salman Dogo Garba as the Commissioner of Police in Kano State, the Command has been working assiduously and has recorded positive results in addressing the menace of thuggery (Fadan Daba) and other related crimes. In line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, we have employed a multi-faceted approach, combining intelligence gathering, community engagement, targeted operations, and strategic communication in public enlightenment and sensitization. This strategy underscores our commitment to maintaining peace and security in the State. We will continue to collaborate with members of the community to identify and address the remnants of crimes and bring perpetrators to justice.

4.  Furthermore, the Kano State Police Command remains committed to protecting lives and properties, working diligently to prevent, manage, control, and detect crimes. The efforts have yielded tremendous successes, and we are glad to share these achievements with you today.

5.  Below is a summary of the achievements recorded for twenty-one (21) days:
Arrests
i. Sixteen (16) suspected armed robbers
ii. Three (3) suspected kidnappers
iii. Seven (7) suspected thieves
iv. Six (6) suspected drug dealers
v. Seven (7) suspected fraudsters
vi. Six (6) motorcycle thieves
vii. Forty-seven (47) suspected thugs.

Recoveries
i. One (1) motor vehicle
ii. One (1) locally-made gun
iii. Five (5) solar batteries
iv. Forty-One (41) sharp knives and cutlasses
v. Two hundred and ninety-eight (298) pieces of Exol tablets
vi. Twelve (12) sachets of tramadol tablets
vii. Two (2) sachets of diazepam tablets and six (6) pieces of D5 hard drugs
viii. Fifty-five (55) parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp
ix. Two (2) Tricycles
x. Twelve (12) motorcycles
xi. One (1) sewing machine
xii. Twenty (20) ATM cards
xiii. Two hundred and forty-one thousand naira (₦241,000.00) suspected to be counterfeit currency
xiv. Twenty-one million seven hundred thousand naira (21,700,000:00).

6.  I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to the Kano State Government for their unwavering support and cooperation. I also thanked the good people of the State for their continued trust and confidence reposed in the Police Command. Your support and cooperation have been invaluable in our efforts to combat crime and ensure peace and security in the State.

7.  In closing, while the Police Command has made significant strides in combating crime and maintaining peace and order in the State, we recognize that there is still much work to be done. Therefore, members of the public are urged to continue co operating by providing timely and accurate information on suspicious movements of persons or items they come across to the nearest police Formation or contacting the Kano State police command through the following numbers :
