ASUP Suspends Nationwide Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) Zone A has backed the decision of it’s national body in suspending the planned nationwide strike over policies disagreement.

The ASUP Zonal Coordinator in charge of Zone A Comrade Abdulaziz Ibrahim Badaru revealed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of their meeting.

He explained that, the meeting of Zone which comprised 10 states namely Kano, Jigawa, Zamfara, Katsina, Nigeri, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kaduna and

The Coordinator noted that, they supported the suspension of the proposed industrial action to give more room for dialogue with federal government for resolving the disagreement.

According to him, the commitment shows by Federal Government delegation on tripartite for resolving the disagreement on the contentious provision of new scheme of service released by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) was very appreciable.

” Our demands has been considered and will be taken care, there their is no need to embark on the proposed Nationwide strike” zonal coordinator emphasis.

The union however appealed to the federal Government to establish National Polytechnic Commission as like universities and colleges, said that the NBTE lack capacity to handle their affairs.
