The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State has conducted primary elections across the 30 state assembly constituencies, with the Speaker of the Assembly retaining his ticket for the 2027 election unopposed.
The primaries were conducted peacefully, as over 80 percent of the party’s candidates emerged through consensus.
The affirmation of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, took place at the Miga local government headquarters. Security agencies, APC national headquarters delegates, journalists, and INEC officials were among the witnesses.
Speaking shortly after his affirmation, Rt. Hon. Dangyatin promised to continue pursuing projects, programs, and laws that will improve the social and economic life of his constituency and the people of Jigawa State at large.
He further promised to maintain a cordial relationship between the legislature and the executive for the successful implementation of Governor Namadi’s 12-point agenda, which has yielded fruitful results over the last three years.
“We will continue to support our leader, His Excellency Governor Malam Umar Namadi’s transformational agenda, designed to make Jigawa State prosperous and great.”
“I thank all the APC stakeholders in my constituency who have shown confidence in me by approving me to also stand as the party’s flag bearer for the upcoming 2027 general election.”
In his reaction to the outcome of the state assembly primary election, the state chairman of APC, Hon. Ahmed Maikudi MK, said the exercise, which was the third phase of the process, was conducted very successfully, like the previous one for the National Assembly.
He noted that every primary election conducted serves as a yardstick that strengthens their confidence in delivering Jigawa State to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and also winning all the seats to be contested in the upcoming 2027 general election.
Hon. MK then thanked the APC primary election committee sent from their national headquarters, the state governor, Malam Umar Namadi, and all APC stakeholders and members who contributed in various capacities to the success of the exercise.
“As we are preparing for the governorship primary, which will be the last phase of the exercise, we assure the people of Jigawa that the APC government will continue to stand by them by delivering democracy to their doorstep,” MK stated.
