While some governors have stated that they are prepared to enact the new minimum wage, others have voiced reservations due to their inability to afford it.

A new investigation has revealed that there is still no framework in place for negotiations between the Kano state administration and the workers, despite the focus still being on the introduction of the new national minimum wage. The committee that the Kano state government appointed to advise it on how to go about enacting the new minimum wage has not yet turned in its report, as The Nation reported on Sunday, August 25.

The committee member Kano State Commissioner for Information revealed that there is still more for the panel to examine, noting that there are “so many adjustments to be done based on the data available.”

NLC’s official declaration The Nigeria labour Congress (NLC) chairman, Kabiru Inuwa, continued in same vein when he said that organised labour anticipated a comprehensive adjustment table from the National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission (NSIWC). This will direct it in its talks with the state administration of Kano, according to Inuwa.
