Jigawa: LG Boss Promises Continues Skills Training For Women, Youth To Eradicate Poverty

Gumel local government council chairman Hon Lawan Ya’u promised to complement the effort of Jigawa state governor Malam Umar Namadi on women empowerment and skills acquisition for jobs creation, poverty eradication, sustainable growth and development.

 

The chairman made the remarks while speaking at the opening session of training women for Waste Recycling Management held in Gumel.

 

He noted that, Waste recycling has multiple impacts : ” Converting waste into wealth will help in improving environmental hygiene, Jobs creation and poverty eradication” the chairman stated.

 

Hon Ya”u promised to organized such training for more women across the 10 political wards in his area and also advocate to other council chairmen to cascade the training for bigger result.

 

In his speech at the occasion the Managing Director. Jigawa State Environmental Protection Agency ( JISEPA) Mr Adamu Sabo said, the Gumel skills traiining was a zonal program comprising participant’s from across the 6 local government area.

 

He noted that, 600 women are tagated for the Waste Recycling training sponsored by Unicef in collaboration with Jigawa state government and Waste Pickers Association of Nigeria.

 

Mr Adamu added that, the training took place in 4 centers namely Dutse, Kazaure, Gumel and Hadejia, maintained that, the participants had sofar demonstrated enthusiasm in learning the skill, described that as very encouraging.

 

The MD assured the participants that an adequate arrangements was put inplace to link them with market and organized them into corporative for easy access to raw materials and sustainable operation.
