Stakeholders Advocates More Finding To Supports ACJA in Jigawa

 

 

Critical stakeholders in the implementation of Criminals justice Act in Jigawa state has called on the authority concern to improve funding af all the process to create enabling environment for effective implementation of the Act in the state and Nigeria at large.

 

The called was made during the two days workshop/roundtable meeting of the stakeholders organized by organized by CLEEN foundation with support from MacArthur foundation, held in Dutse capital Jigawa state

 

The meeting described Inadequate funding and low capacity as major challenges hindering the effective implementation of Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) in Jigawa and Nigeria at large.

 

The groups noted that, some of the key actors for the implementation of the Act particularly at lower level lack required capacity to support the implementation.

 

In their resolution during the meeting Wich comprised representatives of Police, Nigerian Correctional Service, Immigration, Judiciary, Nigerian Bar Association, Media, religious groups, traditional institutions and civil society has promised to work for addressing the challenges.

 

The stakeholders Also promised to advocate for adequate funding to ensure the provision of all required facilities, tools and logistics,.also the training and public enlightenment on the role everyone is expected to play for the effective implementation of the Act.

 

According to the resolution of the meeting, the groups had described the effective implementation of criminals justice Act as pivotal to promote law and order, peace and security in the society.

 

In his opening remarks during the session , the acting Executive Director, CLEEN foundation Peter Maduoma said, the occasion was organized to facilitate brainstorming on the success, challenges and way forward on the implementation of Administration of Criminal Justice Laws in Jigawa state and other eight project forcal states.

 

“For us in CLEEN Foundation, we have confidence that, the two days deliberations will came up with resolution that will help in improving the work we all have been doing in the advancement of the ACJA/L across the nation and particularly in our states” director stated.

 

Mr Peter then commended MacArthur Foundation for funding the project and urged all stakeholders to discuss and brainstorm extensively to came up with solution to the gaps identified in the implementation of criminals justice Act in Jigawa state.
