The Network for Jigawa Civil Society (NetJiC), an organization focused on gender and social inclusion, has expressed its support for the inauguration of the Women in Da’awa Committee by the Jigawa State First Lady, Hajiya Hadiza Umar Namadi.

The committee was established to promote the true teachings of Islam, fostering spiritual and moral discipline among the younger generation and the general public for a better society.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the group’s chairman, Comrade Mustapha Umar Babura.

The group described the initiative as a welcome development that will also promote literacy and women’s participation in governance and economic inclusion.

The statement highlighted that the initiative has already created employment opportunities for over 500 women carefully selected from across the state.

“Two women were chosen from each of the 287 wards across the 27 local government areas (LGAs) to take up the responsibility of Da’awah (Islamic teachings) at the grassroots level. This effort aims to increase awareness about the true teachings of Islam, which promote peaceful coexistence and service to humanity,” the statement noted.

The group pledged its full support for the successful implementation of the project, including independent monitoring to ensure the desired goals are achieved.

The Women Da’awah Programme is a collaborative effort between the Jigawa State Government, the State Council of Ulama, and other religious and community leaders. It seeks to educate women on Islamic teachings, enhance their roles in family and community development, and promote peaceful coexistence based on the principles of justice, kindness, and mutual respect.
