FG Registers 80,000 Farmers For Subsidized Agric Inputs in Jigawa

Federal Government of Nigeria through Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has registered 80,000 farmers for receiving agricultural Inputs at subsidized price in Jigawa state.

 

Speaking to newsmen the Jigawa state coordinator of Federal Ministry of Agricultural Alhaji Sale Salisu said the beneficiaries were registered from across the 27 local government area of the state.

 

He said, the agricultural Inputs to be distributed is for the 2024/2025 dry season farming, and inview of that, emphasis was paid to Fadama and other areas with irrigation scheme for the registration.

 

Alhaji Salisu noted that, the distribution exercise has already commenced and over 60,000 farmers have already received their inputs.

 

According to him the selected agro dealers in collaboration with the ministry has selected designated points for collecting the Inputs within the farmer”s communities to avoid another unnecessary expenditure on farmers.

 

“The program is part of the federal government’s agenda for food security and reducing unemployment through National Agricultural Growth Scheme and Agro-Pocket Inputs Packages for NAGS 2024/2025”.

 

“In the causes of the registration we noticed some little challenges and we take not of it for future exercise ” Sale stated.

 

In his comment one of the beneficiary farmer Malam Rufai Ruga of Tsakuwawa Village commended federal government for the intervention , how ever called for improvement in the distribution process.

 

“Such intervention is very encouraging to farmers, but there is need for federal government and aggro dealers to be smart in making the process to be timely, considering the planting season is almost ended now”.

 

Also according to Dahiru Garba he described the subsidized inputs as an intervention that make the needed agricultural Inputs affordable to the farmers, and in return it will help in boosting agricultural productivity in Nigeria.
