Parents and care-givers have forwarded thousands of their children for polio vaccination across Jigawa state as three days vaccinations exercise targeted 1.5 million children flagged off .<\/p>\n

In an unprecedented development local communities have demonstrated strong support for the exercise. Mothers and Sisters were seen supporting under 5 years children to various points for recieving the Immunization against polio.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
In Dutse capital a team of vaccinators were seen around churches and residential areas surrounded by h 10th of children waiting for the vaccination.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Similarly In Kila town of Gwaram Local Government area of the state mothers and care givers were seen patiently waiting for administering the polio Vaccine to their children.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
According to Fatima Sani a 29 years old of Kila town,said she brought her child for the vaccine as she was fully convinced that, the vaccine is good and safe for the children.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
She testified that. as a child 26 years back she recieved the vaccine, and presently she has three children, no any side effect appeared to her.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
” Yes there was a lot of hearsay on polio Vaccine and me and many of may contemporaries were vaccinated and nothing bad happened to us, so practically and evidently proved all the misinformation about it is untrue” Fatima stated<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
How ever in Sara town teams of the vaccinators were sighted around markets , Islamiyya schools and residential areas busy administering the vaccine on children.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Report from across the state has shown that there was an unprecedented turnout for recieving the vaccination following series of public campaign, community engagement and a testimony from mother who were vaccinated in the last 25 years.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the exercise the Monitoring and Evaluation Office of the Jigawa state Primary Healthcare Agency Mr. Zakariyya Sale Shehu said as the exercise entered second days report has shown that, they could achieved their tergate 99 percent.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
According to the Primary Healthcare Manager of Gwaram Local Government Malam Musa Muhammad a total of 147,776 children are tergated in the local government and sofar the turnout was very encouraging,while the exercise is going on successfully.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The exercise is a collaborative effort between the Jigawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (JSPHCDA), the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA), and partners like UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO)<\/p>\n
