{"id":4290,"date":"2025-02-21T13:22:15","date_gmt":"2025-02-21T13:22:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/attajdidnews.com.ng\/?p=4290"},"modified":"2025-02-21T14:11:59","modified_gmt":"2025-02-21T14:11:59","slug":"infants-mortality-reduce-by-26-immunization-rises-to-90-in-jigawa-unicef","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/attajdidnews.com.ng\/?p=4290","title":{"rendered":"Infant Mortality Reduce By 26 % , Immunization rises To 90% In Jigawa&#8211; UNICEF"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UNICEF has attested that infants and maternal mortality has significantly reduced in Jigawa state as a result of collaborative efforts and governmet commitment to strengthen Immunization and improving access to effective public healthcare services delivery in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The, Chief of Health, UNICEF Nigeria Dr Shyam Sharan Pathak revealed this while speaking at the closing off and handing over ceremony of the program, GAVI funded Project which commenced in 2020 after signing an MOu&#8221; with Jigawa state government.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that, UNICEF through GAVi funded project has spent over N4 billion to straighten immunization coverage and effective primary healthcare services in state and everyone is proud of the achievement recorded.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Shyam noted that, The significant milestones achieved through this programme is testament of solid partnership and commitment for every child, youth and mother in Jigawa state and across the country.<\/p>\n<p>He however commended the Jigawa state government for its sustainable commitment to funding public healthcare services and also the implementation of the project &#8220;s MOUs that help in saving lives and also saves as model for sustainable improvement of public healthcare service delivery.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Shyam also on behalf of UNICEF Nigeria Country Representative Ms Cristian Munduate extended the UNICEF appreciation to GAVI, the vaccine alliance, for their support to scale up PHC services to improve routine immunization coverage and deliver quality essential health services.<\/p>\n<p>He also advocate for more investment, oversight visit , to improve and sustain current results, retain health workers, maintain equipment, sustain mechanisms and operations of outreach services, and strengthen documentation and data for decision making.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the occasion held in Dutse Government House, the state Commissioner for health Dr Abdullahi Kainuwa stated that, the area of collaboration with GAVI i Project, included strengthen Governance , Leadership, Supply chain, Demand Creation, Human Resources and, Data quality.<\/p>\n<p>According to the commissioner under the MOus, 200 PHCs were renovated and upgraded , 29,530 less privileges enrolled in social insurance across 6 local government area.12,000 volunteers Health ambassadors (Jakadan Lafiya) were moblized from across the 27 local government for demand generation and Health information.<\/p>\n<p>Vehicles and solar powered refrigerators were supplied to strengthen Immunization cold chain, special scheme for emergency transportation of pregnant women to Hospital was introduced under which over 4,000 were transported and delivered with support of Skill birth attended with zero record of life lost.<\/p>\n<p>&#8221; As a result of this collaborated effort the immunization coverage improve to over 30% in 2017 to 90% in 2024, Reduction in Under-5 mortality rate from 213 to 161 per 1000 live births between 2018 and 2023, Data generation improved significantly, Manpower development and the general public primary healthcare service delivery in the state &#8221; the Commissioner revealed.<\/p>\n<p>In his reply, the Jigawa state governor Malam Umar Namadi thanks UNICEF, GAVI i Project, WHO and other partners from their collaborative efforts that strengthen Jigawa state public healthcare services delivery and save many lives from unnecessary death.<\/p>\n<p>The governor who was represented by his deputy promised to use all available resources to sustain the gain and build on from where GAVI stop.<\/p>\n<p>He also reiterated commitment to continue collaborating with partners and all stakeholders to ensure no life lost because of medical bill or non access to basic healthcare services in the state.<\/p>\n<p>By: Muhammad Zangina Kura<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>At&#8217;tajdid News<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UNICEF has attested that infants and maternal mortality has significantly reduced in Jigawa state as a result of collaborative efforts and governmet commitment to strengthen Immunization and improving access to effective public healthcare services delivery in the state.
