{"id":2556,"date":"2024-08-15T13:50:35","date_gmt":"2024-08-15T13:50:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/attajdidnews.com.ng\/?p=2556"},"modified":"2024-08-15T13:50:38","modified_gmt":"2024-08-15T13:50:38","slug":"jigawa-youth-groups-join-tree-planting-campaign-against-environmental-degradation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/attajdidnews.com.ng\/?p=2556","title":{"rendered":"Jigawa Youth Groups Join Tree Planting Campaign  Against Environmental Degradation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p> From Garba Muhammad <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over 100  Youth from various youth groups in Jigawa state had jointly  flagged off a tree planting campaign targeted  at planting and nursing 1,500 trees across three local government area of the state Speaking at the flagging off ceremony the representative of the youth group Comrade IIbrahim Sani  said, they resolved to use the occasion of the celebration of International Youth Day with tree planting campaign to mobilize youth to Join hands in fight against global warming and other environmental degradation.&#8221;With support from UNICEF and Jigawa state government we are determined to use our network to mobilize the entire Jigawa state Youth to support the tree planting and other environmental protection campaign for sustainable environmental development &#8220;The 2024  campaign targets to plant 1,500 trees. Five hundred (500) tress   have already been planted in Babura, and another 500 trees each will be planted in Maigatari and Sule Tankarkar Speaking at the occasion Dr. Uba Lawal, Programme Specialist, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), UNICEF Field Office Kano. said, the tree planting campaign is a key approach to mitigating the effects of Climate Change, especially in the semi-arid areas of northern Jigawa where deforestation has severely affected the regionDr Uba noted that, UNICEF is supporting the Jigawa State Government by providing resources to mobilize and educate the people of Jigawa on the importance of tree planting and the role that youth will play, being the leaders of tomorrow. The Jigawa state government is leading the campaign and has provided the 1,500 trees to be planted.&#8221;The youth are key to sustaining and nurturing the trees being planted as they are the foremost beneficiaries of a greener future.
