Global Funds Flagg Off Distribution of 3.2 Million Mosquito Nets In Jigawa<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maleria Consortium supported by Global Fund has flagged off the distribution of 3.2 Long Lasting Insecticide Treated Mosquito Nets to tackle the scourge of Maleria disease in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the flagging off of the exercise held at Katanga village of Kiyawa local government, the state Governor Malam Umar Namadi described the partners intervention as a welcome development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said, Maleria is one of the major disease creating huge challenges and burden in the state public healthcare and they are ever ready to collaborate with any partner to tackle the deseas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

” We are not only going to support Global Fund but we must prepare to maintain what they are doing because they can’t provide such service forever but government work to people must remain forever”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

” We increased our annual health budgets in 2024, we commenced upgrading of our hospitals, we employed 1,000<\/strong> health workers included doctors, we introduced health insurance for vulnarebles and less privileges within one year in our effort to ensure access to basic healthcare services for all of our people inrespect of their socio-economic status “<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The governor than called on the general public to make use of mosquitoes nets for reducing the prevalence of Maleria cases which kills children and pregnant women more than any other disease in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his speech at the occasion the head of Global Fund in Nigeria Dr Jim Thomas said, fighting against Maleria, Tuberculosis and HIV is one of the key area they have focusing in Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that, in achieving the desire goals they increased their budget for 2024-2026 for more expanded intervention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Jim’s added that, the distribution of the mosquito nets is part of the project they are doing for fighting against Maleria and the kind of corporations they received in Jigawa state is very encouraging and commendable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He however revealed that as a result of government commitment and partners intervention the prevalence of malaria cases in Jigawa state has reduced from 39.6 percent in 2013 to 24.7 percent in 2021<\/p>\n\n\n\n

” Our consistent support in Nigeria has co tributes to the reducing of Maleria prevalence from 42 percent in 2010 to 27 percent 2015 and 22 percent in 2021 according to National Maleria Indicator” Mr Jim stated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
